A recent study, published in the Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, showed that walking for five minutes at the top of every hour increased employees’ happiness and vigor, while reducing fatigue and hunger cravings.
In the study, researchers compared the effects of one session of physical activity in the morning to “microbouts” throughout the day to sitting at a desk all day. It’s no surprise that sitting all day takes a toll on the body and mind, but even small quantities of activity throughout the day can be helpful in boosting your health.
Researchers found that microbouts of activity had the best effect on mood, energy levels, and cognitive function. While one bout of activity in the morning is still better than sitting for six hours straight and was shown to increase office workers’ self-perceived energy, the microbouts method improved workers’ moods, decreased fatigue, and reduced food cravings.
The team was set to boycott the championship tournament, with protests starting in response to the inequality between the men’s and women’s programs concerning both players’ compensation and treatment. Both sides came together after an initial proposal was rejected on March 20, according to ESPN.
“Today reflects everyone coming together and compromising in order to reach a resolution for the betterment of the sport,” Jim Smith, president of USA Hockey, said in a statement. “We’ll now move forward together knowing we’ll look back on this day as one of the most positive in the history of USA Hockey.”

The unprecedented agreement marks a huge step forward for the women’s sport. Highlights of the deal include a much-needed raise and insurance and travel arrangements that are equal to those offered to the men’s team, according to ESPN.
Another influential part of the agreement is the formation of a Women’s High Performance Advisory Group, consisting of former and current players from the program. The group’s goal will be to help USA Hockey continue to take steps to advance girls’ and women’s hockey programs, marketing, promotion, and fundraising.
“We stood up for what we thought was right and USA Hockey’s leadership listened,” Meghan Duggan, the team’s captain, said. “In the end, both sides came together. I’m proud of my teammates and can’t thank everyone who supported us enough.”

Kane, or legal name Glenn Jacobs, has taken a six-month hiatus from the WWE because he has been prepping for his post-wrestling career: politics. Jacobs recently filed paperwork that would give him the opportunity to run for mayor of Tennessee in May 2018.
Believe it or not, the Spawn of Satan has a pretty diverse portfcholio outside the ring, according to comicbook.com. He has his own insurance company, Jacobs Insurance, and helped promote One Unforgettable Night, a dance for critically ill patients.

All in all, Kane is the perfect example of an athlete having a positive second career following his playing days. Kane has not officially retired, but it looks like we may have seen the last of 2013’s Pro Wrestling Illustrated Most Hated Wrestler of the Year.

The Celtic Warrior has met his greatest foe: a ladder.
During WWE Raw this week, Sheamus, along with his tag team partner Cesaro, attacked their tag team rivals, The Club and Enzo & Cass, with a metal ladder. However, unknown to fans at the venue, the ladder actually slashed Sheamus’ face, creating a massive gash just above his eye. The injury appears to have occurred at 1:05 in this video, where you can see Sheamus quickly roll out of the ring after getting launched into the ladder by Cesaro:
In the video below, you can see WWE’s doctors applying the stitches (15 in total) to Sheamus’ forehead while Raw is still live in the background. To his credit, the WWE superstar takes it like a champ, with only a few grunts and a wry smile after the doctors are done.
Sheamus also posted photos of the injury on social media (WARNING, some of these photos are graphic):

Despite the injury, Sheamus is still set to team up with Cesaro for the triple threat Raw Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 33 this Sunday. However, we can’t imagine he was excited to hear that it will now be a Ladder Match.
Let’s hope this time he realizes charging head-first into metal probably isn’t the best idea.
